Reverse controls?

Hi there, I hope I don't offend purists, this is just a fleeting thought at the moment....

Can you switch sides of the rear brake and gear shift on a 72 TR6 650? I haven't had my bike license a year yet and this week will pick up this triumph as project bike, but would like to ride it if I get it going this summer. Not sure i'm up to those left brain/right brain complexities yet.

I'm sure there would be challenges of course, but does anyone know if this is even possible, has been done before?

thanks for your thoughts... don't shoot me for mine!

At one point, I had a six speed Suzuki, left shift, one down and five up, a Triumph with a five speed right side shift one down four up, and a Norton Commando with a four speed, right side shift one up three down. I managed.
When in doubt, squeeze both levers push down on both pedals.

It's amazing how flexible we really are. I owned a Yam RD250 and a BSA A65L at the same time... I don't think I ever screwed it up. I hop back and forth US/UK... I'm having to switch road sides and which hand for the stick shift all the time... I think I've only tried to change gear with the door handle once.

not so hard

At one time I owned a 72 TR6 and a 79 Bonny shifted on opposite sides. the only time I had any trouble is when I was out on the town if you know what I mean.

Add an old kawasaki to the mix - FIVE UP.

You think you got 1st, and dump the clutch for engine braking, then plow into whatever you were pointed at.

My first bike....Japan domestic Honda S90. Four speed left shift with no stop peg in the drum. So, first second third fourth on the freeway.......revving out, so newbie shifts up one more time.......neutral........Panic......up one more..........first gear at sixty. I must have hit 15 grand. No damage. ****, those bikes were bulletproof.
