Something to check
I've spent the last half hour or so listening to jazz and filing ring end gaps on the rings of the lovely alloy cylinder from MAP. Any excuse to fondle it. It occured to me that many kits are advertised as "drop on", as if everything is ready to go, but you always have to at least check the end gaps of the rings any time you get ready to install a cylinder. This would have probably slid together, but there was NO end gap to speak of and would surely have caused a VERY EXPENSIVE seizure. So, always check. Twice.

Well, to be fair, builders have their individual standards on end gaps, like anything. I like 'em a tad snug, so I'm glad they aren't set at 20 or something. This is a kit with the cast Aerco pistons, lower compression....the forged pistons add a hun and a half to the deal.

Attention to detail does pay dividends. Listening to music, while optional, is definately benifecial. Becks................... NOT TOO MANY!

Becks indeed, if the Pilsner Urquell wasn't on sale. But, the Smithwicks and Bass seemed more appropriate, so that had to do. Being indecisive, I alternated. The jazz selections tonight were primarily Brazilian. Just love this internationalization. Now if the U.S. Dollar wasn't in the toilet...............

There was something about Beck's Dark that I always liked.

A nice black and tan with Guiness and Bass is always scrumptious.

This Smithwick's is new around here and it may be that it's Guinness' version of Bass....but with less bite. I'll take either. Good fer wot ales ya. Have to do a comparison of blacks and tans with both. Hey, I like the Cooper's ale and stout from Oz, too. More comparisons required.
