57 - 59 Fenders on a Duplex?

I'm rebuilding a 60 Thunderbird that came with basic pattern mudguards front and rear, and I'd like to change them - but not go the bathtub route.

I guess I could go the Bonnevile route - but I fancied trying the earlier type, which I thought styling wise might match the nacelle better. Could anyone give me a sense of how feasible this would be please?

I'm waiting on a parts book - but the forks look the same, though some seem to have a front stay and the some don't. From pictures the rear mudguard seems to sit to the same height as the Bonnevile one so looks like it would clear the seat.... It's hard to get a sense of this without having seen the earlier and duplex types next to each other.

I won't be buying a posh pair from Ace, and I'll try to avoid the Indian stuff - but if anyone has a sense of how the duplex and earlier ones compare I'd much appreciate it. I'm happy to weld up holes and fabricate brackets - but if it came to changing shape or profiles I'd be struggling.

In 1959 6T,T100, T110 T120 shared the same fenders front and rear. They are not the same fenders used in 1960. In '60 the T110 and T bird shared the same rear fender under the 'bathtub' . I have a 59 T120 Set of fenders and a 61 T bird frame if I get time I will try to hold them up to each other. Question Why not jus use fenders of a 60/62 T120?
By the way I believe the rear fender on the top picture is from a different model. Note the difference in the valance between the 59 T120in the lower picture. Of course it could be the angle the picture was taken from

Thank you for replying - if you could hold them up that would absolutely brilliant and a huge help. Thank you.

Why the earlier fenders is just because I prefer the look of them I guess - I've seen bikes with the nacelle and the later fenders with the shallow valance, and they just somehow look out of balance to me?

I meant to say - thank you for the link before, that's really helpful too.

I also see what you mean about the rear fender in the pictures - it does look to have shallower sides, though It could be the angle as you said and perhaps the colour too. The T120 colour perhaps makes it look a bit flatter.

Sorry for the delay in answering cant seem to find a few bits I was going to use for checking.

Will the early rear fender fit the 60/62 frame? Well I got my '59 fender out went out to my 61 frame to check. Unfortunately I bought a basket a few years ago and it doesn't have a rear frame section. But research shows 58/59 & 60/61 all use the same swing arm, lifting handle, and fender to frame bracket. I also talked to friend of mine who is very knowledgeable in Pre Units.
We are both of the opinion that the rear fender will go in BUT may need some "adjustment' as your rear frame section has a loop where the earlier one did not.

I am sure the Front Fender will fit as long as the Nacelle sliders are used. You will note a change in part numbers between the 58/59 and 60/61 sliders. The basic casting is the same and carry the same casting part number down by the axle. The difference has to do with the overall length.

Hope this a bit of help to you
