Andy (Meatwagon) is down.

Hey everyone,

Some of you know Andy (Meatwagon) from posting here. Andy was involved in an accident recently. We're all pulling for him to make a record-fast recovery. Stay safe everyone!!!

Some early details:

===============================================
Andy was just involved in an accident on the '77 Bonnie. He was apparently hit by a vehicle making a u-turn in front of him

He was following a car and as they approached an intersection, the car pulled to the right as though it was making a right [edit] handed turn. Then at the last minute it whipped to the left to make a u-turn....right in front of Andy who was positioned to pass. With the old breaks on that 77 T140, he couldn't slow fast enough and collided with the vehicle. The force of the impact threw Andy across the hood of the car and into the intersection...breaking his pelvis and dislocating his hip. Other injuries may include a broken wrist and fingers. He is stable and has no head, neck or back injuries.

==============================================

RAFFLE INFO

so here it is:

Most of you know that our friend Andy (Meatwagon) was in an accident shortly before new years and broke his pelvis. Carlos from South Bay Triumph/ Triumph Performance USA is raffling off a set of new Dominator Sport silencers for the new Triumph Bonneville (retail value $525.00) with all of the proceeds going to help Andy out. Raffle tickets are 5 dollars a piece and can be purchased from Brian Wilcher via paypal (treasurer@britironrebels.com). Please note in your payment that it is for the raffle. There is no limit to the number of tickets that can be purchased. Last day to purchase tickets will be Thursday January 31st. Winner will be drawn and announced on Friday February 1st.

This raffle is being organized by the Brit Irons Rebels and Ton Up Club NorCal.
Andy (Meatwagon) will get ALL the proceeds from the raffle...every last cent.
Germ (TUC NorCal) and Carlos from So. Bay Triumph have provided the pipes.

Fine print: Upon purchasing a ticket a number will be assigned to each one by (Brian Wilcher) and the number only will be sent to the person drawing the winner (Jeremy Oates). A paper ticket will not be mailed out. The person drawing the winner will have no knowledge of the identity of who is drawn to keep it fair to everyone. Carlos Schmidt, Brian Wilcher, and Jeremy Oates are not eligible to win.

Speedy recoveries from broken pelvi are rare indeed, but we can hope.
Today I was at the mall getting new glasses to cash in on our flexcare deal....money which you lose if you don't use. Winter in Hawaii means rain, more than usual, and as I was approaching the exit of the mall, I looked up the hill to the stoplight at the bottom of my hill and noted that it had just turned green. It's a long light, so I goosed the Thrux to catch the light....on the wet and deceptively slick parking lot surface. Did a great left/right/left swing on the rear end. I had the presence of mind to not tap the brake and it straightened out with enough time to make the light. These things pop up with little to no warning.
My 68 Tigerville started down the path from stocker to where it is now because an elderly retired Connecticut Highway Patrolman turned left from the right lane....with me in the left lane and nowhere to go.

Meatwagon,

that sounds like an unexpected & scary flight of the first magnitude - crashing sux regardless of situation - glad to know it wasn't worse... heal up as fast as you're able... give a shout once in awhile over in Twin Talk, you're missed... as is McQueen...

Cheers & best wishes for a speedy recovery,

D9

I hope Andy gets back on the horse this summer. It's gonna take a bit, but I know he'll be back. This **** sucks when cagers pull fast ones like that. Should be mandatory in all States to have Motorcycle Riders appreciation training/testing for drivers licenses like they do in Virginia.

I have a vivid picture of exactly what happened and I don't like it one bit, Nope not one bit! Andy, first of all I'm glad your alive! Secondly, I hope you recover quickly and lastly I pray you prosper handsomely from anyone that would do something that stupid and un-intentionally cause an accident!
