Oil filter change interval

Last question today, I promise! 650 motor with high mileage and driven short distances daily (thus sludge accumulation observed even with 400-mile oil changes). New MAP Trident style oil filter to be installed. How often should the filter be changed (MAP Trident style) with such short distance riding habits and is there a danger of the filter becoming clogged (I hope it has a bypass??). Assume it's best to change at each oil change interval-- even at 400 hundred miles, at least for the first oil change after installation. But after that??

Bump. I was waiting for an answer myself. Especially the by-pass.

No bypass just an inlet at the bottom and an outlet to the tank off the the side and placed low on the filter. I doubt your oil filter will be what clogs up, but your sludge trap first. Hate to be an alarmist.

I change mine at every other oil change. Also, you can check for "clogging" simply by looking at the oil flow returning to the tank; if it's "spurting" back into the tank with a little revving of the engine, then you know that the filter's not clogged. I think it'd take a long time for the filter to fill up with contaminants, though.
