G'day folks,
A mate asked me to post a query to anyone who has recently purchased a
Hayward belt drive. The question is :- has Tony Hayward changed his design of the clutch
basket? Both my mate & I have had Hayward BD's on our Triumphs for a number of years.
We both were impressed by the clutch basket fitted with renewable hardened pins for the
plates to slide on, rather than the 'normal' cutouts in which the 'tangs' of the plates slide. The Hayward clutch plates, at least in our bikes, have semi-circular cutouts to correspond with the 'pins' in the basket
However rumour has it that current Hayward units now accept standard plates, & the only
pictures I've found on the net are not clear enough to see the detail. I would be suprised if indeed Tony Hayward no longer incorporates one of the major design features (replaceable pins) that were the reason I chose this unit over others.

A mate of the above mate ;-) is currently wanting to buy a belt drive conversion for his '69.

So, anyone know?
regards
