t140 cases have a hole through which the shifter shaft runs, the t120 doesnt. the t140 left hand shifter shaft has a "dog-leg" bend which clears "stuff" (primary chain, etc.) in the chaincase. you're best bet is to run a linkage right to left on forward controls,if it's a chopper. if stock, you run into a brake problem as well,as left shift models use a right foot master cyl. and disc rear brake.so no easy way out. learn to right shift.

I concur with the above advice! Ever heard the phrase "can of worms"? Learn to shift right or replace the whole drive train with a newer 70's 750 unit with left shift. If your going to do much two-up or highway riding the extra displacement won't hurt anyway. Good luck with your bike!

Rigidrider: I hope you get this in time! In case your really serious about making the conversion I just found something on eBay you may want to check out. Someone is selling an article to download which shows how to modify Triumph Unit 650-750 Twins converting them to either 4 or 5 speeds and either left or right shift. Supposedly it will even show you how to identify the correct parts and contains lots of diagrams. Go to eBay Motors and type item# 2471462325 into the search engine and it should pull right up. The auction ends on 4-5-04 at 7:10:33 PDT so don't wait too long. They're only asking $10.00 for it. Good luck! I hope this helps you at least find out what is involved.

The information on the conversion is also available FREE to members at classicbike.net. They also have the 4 to 5 speed info. Lots of good tech advise over there. But beware, they will kill a member if you haven't logged in much. My membership died when I had not logged in for about 1 month (maybe 1 1/2 months). Anyway, it wasn't very long. And I had quite a few posts over there. Haven't had the urge to mess with it again. Anyway, just wanted to let you know it can be done. It's not very expensive, if you can do the work yourself, and the info can be had free - including parts list.
