Triumph 1969 T120 - Cut Out Problem Fixed

I have been sorting through a new purchase t120rt and had a problem with the bike acting as if the key were turned off after a short ride. It did this before I got the bike but would usually fire back up and go again. As all power is first fed through the amp guage I went in there to have a look. The strange thing was that the lights would work after an episode of dying. Bottom line is one wire on the amp guage was loose. Finger loose nut. I put a star washer under each wire and made sure the lug nuts were secure. Problem fixed. Remember electrical connections are sneaky, especially on a machine that has sat for years. Corrosion you can not see develops on terminals and eliminates continuity. On any electrical problem the firt step should be to clean and secure all connections. One can use sandpaper, a little wire wheel on a dremel, spray terminal cleaner, wd-40, and other methods to get good contacts. That goes for the grounds too.
