The saga continues

OK, so I finally got the crank separated from the timing side case. I am sure I will be castigated for this, but I ended up using a large gear puller.

So, after removing the crank the bearing remained in the case. I took a socket that fit over the bearing and pounded on it to remove it. I was not paying attention as it was moving out and did not see that all I did was move the ball bearing part - it separated from the outer shell. The outer shell is still locked in the case. There is no way to make any type of contact with this piece. Any suggestions? I am afraid I will need to notch this somehow so that I can get some type of leverage.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

If you run a bead of weld around the inside of the bearing race, it will shrink it. The welding will also heat the case and the race should just drop out.
You can also weld a bar across the diameter and tap it out.

Thanks. I like the idea of welding a bar across it and pounding it out. I have a friend who can weld. Thanks for the tip.
