Body work question

I have a non Triumph question:

I am in the middle of restoring the side car body for my 1930 HD. I had to buy a new one since my old one was too far gone to repair. The new one is spot welded where the sheet metal comes together. I have grindd down the spot welds and snaded out all the rust.

Question: I need to fill in all the spot wells, do I use body filler first then prime it and what body filler would you use? I think the stuff I have is polyester based, someone told me to get epoxy based filler.

I want to get it primer as soon as possible before the bare metal starts to rust again.

I'll throw up some pictures when I get home from work.

Thanks

Peter

I would first spray it with zinc chromate primer then fill with epoxy filler...it is much less hygroscopic than polyester filler (Bondo). You can make it by using T88 marine epoxy, microballoons, and cabasil. I worked on an aluminum catamaran for a while and we had to surface the entire hull.....twice! (cats have two, after all.) That is what we used and it's bulletproof.
