I purchased the metal fitting that mounts the rear hydraulic reservoir and to my astonishment it was the wrong shape. I had no idea that there was more than one type.
All standard Lockheed reservoir mouldings are also "slanted"; assemble the two "slants" correctly to a vertical mounting and the reservoir will be level; desirable when reservoir near full?
There were two mounts used by Triumph for the rear brake reservoir on OIF Twins.
The first was used from 76 thru 79 is part #83-7056 The second was used from 79 1/2( VIN number XB25383 really '80 models) to the end(pre Harris)is part number 83-7501. This was when the rear reservoir was relocated from its original location. To further confuse the issue the 79 T140D used the earlier part while the 80 T140D used the later.
The T160 used different one #83-5466. This is mentioned as LF Harris supersedes the twin part numbers to the T160 part number.
BUT I believe to LF pieces are threaded at each end so perhaps you were given an old original bit by someone who read the LF Catalog and thought the were all interchangeable. I do not know which of the mounts originally came with the angle cut shown in your pictures.
Not 'stock' but a cheaper alternative to the rear reservoir from "Brembo" sourced from Ducati's 'Bevel Heaven'.

It appears the mounting reservoir for the rear was matched in shape to the front brake assembly (?) & my own assessment was to forgo originality in favor of functionality.
