Gas cap vent

Anybody have any suggestions for cleaning the gas cap vent on a 70T120R? I think it's blocked with kreme. Can the conical part be removed?
Thanks.

Cap Vent

Try a fine needle or pin to push through the hole in the cap and the inner conical piece. You should be able to clear it that way. You can check it by blowing through it with your mouth.

Always worked for me: Jim

Thanks for the response,Jim.
I can run a pin through the hole in the cap and the off centered hole in the conical piece.I can compress the conical piece which seems to be spring loaded.
I cant blow through the hole though. The pin that holds the conical piece rotates freely.
It appears that the locking crimp on the cap would impede removal of the conical piece.
Any ideas?
Thanks again.

I've never taken a cap apart, or, more properly, succeeded in taking one apart, but it might be best to just get another one; I always keep a spare one around "just in case". Is there any solvent that'll dissolve the Kreme? Or, possibly a spray of something like brake parts cleaner in the holes (gasket removed, of course). That stuff will usually dissolve most types of plastic, etc.

Just a thought: Jim

I think I have the cap cleaned out,Jim.I used some compressed air for the holes and also cleaned out the residual cream with acetone. It seems to be venting o.k.now.I just need to get a new gasket.
IMHO I don't think the cap can be taken apart.
I think getting a spare is an excellent idea.
Thanks again.
