71 T120 - Front Axle Nut

Hey guys, maybe someone can help me out here. I'm taking my wheels in tomorrow to get new tires mounted and balanced. But, I need the right sized deep well socket to get the front axle nut off to pull out the brake plate. Seems to me to be close to 27 mm, give or take. Any thoughts?

Front Brake Plate Socket...

Hi Tig,

If it's the same as the '70 models, use a 1 1/8" deep socket.

Works for me, for years now: Jim

Thanks Jim!

I measured it to be about 1 3/16". So of course, I go to Sears and they don't have a single deep well that size for purchase. Gotta buy a $50 set. So I do that, get home, and discover that it is, indeed, 1 1/8"....which Sears did have individually. Oh well, these big guys will come in handy at some point.

Good news is that my front forks are entirely rebuilt now. New o-rings and washers on the dampners, new drain screws and washers, new seals, dust covers, top nut washers and of course.....some progressive springs. New tires go on tomorrow and the bonnie is back on the road, to get me by until the TR6 is done.
