It was 1st registered (i.e used on the road) on 17-10-1975. I'd imagine it had been sitting in a dealers from April to October '75, no-one wanting it then because it didn't have a LH Shift and Disc rear, so didn't look like a 'brand new' bike. Who ever the first owner was probably got it at a helluva discount.

***LATEST UP DATE FROM THE ORGANISING TEAM***
There will be a ticket price rise on 1st September 2008, this is due to a management change at the Heritage Motor Centre and is nothing to do with the organisers (TOMCC). However if you go on line and buy your tickets now, the current price will be honoured.

Second, due to the new management siting an attraction too close to the village (a free-fall practice air blower, driven by a big V8) our event is currently limited to 4,000 tickets. If we sell the 4,000 tickets quickly then the centre will apply for an extension license which will expand the numbers by another 5,000. For those coming from abroad, it is worth buying your tickets now at £9:00 + £1:50 booking fee. If you get there without a ticket even we can't help!

We realise that some people haven't planned their holiday, but travelling from a far and distant land is expensive and a ticket is cheap........ If you are going to the expense of getting here, buy you tickets early. The tickets, when printed will have a GREAT SOUVENIER aspect. A release will be posted later this week so some of you may want a ticket just for that?

Martin Kerwin TOMCC & 50th Birthday Celebration Organiser.

Related to the 50th anniversary: Rider Magazine has two articles this month you might be interested in, one featuring a test drive of the limited edition 50th Anniversary Bonneville (with a nice Meridian Blue and Exotic Orange color scheme reminiscent of the '59 colors), and another giving a brief overview of the history of Triumph.

I'm so, so, so hoping to be able to make it to the celebration. One of my best friends moved to London a year ago so I've got plenty of excuses to make the trip.

Just wish I had as much $$$ as desire.

It would be a dream to be able to ship my bike back to it's birth country and ride it from London, to the event, then through the tiny village of Mixbury where I lived with my parents while they were stationed in Upper Heyford for four years - back during the cold war.

Alas, I'll be happy just to rent a new Bonnie and make the trip. As someone on this forum says, "old triumph, new triumph, any triumph will do".

Does anyone know if an american needs any special licensing to legally ride a motorbike in the U.K.? Would an american license be enough? Guess I can just ask the bike rental company via email....

Thanks for all the hard work putting this together Roy (and thanks again for the info on my TR6C). If I make it, please allow me to buy you a pint.

Well, to start with Boondoggle, I would gladly take a beer with you, thanks! We are having a celebration ale brewed especially for the event. The person overseeing this is Norman Hyde........
PM me your email and I will put you in touch with some dealers who rent Triumphs.
In the mean time, you can buy a ticket and unique merchandise at www.bonnevillecelebration.org even if you can't make it, you WILL have the souveniers!
Roy.

Out of Town Bikes

Dear Fellows,

I want to participate with my bikes in the show but I am based in Karachi, Pakistan.

Bikes are registered in Pakistan, will I be allowed? and If allowed, can i run my bike on UK soil? (without registration)

JaN
