I know I've read it here before, but the search function here doesn't allow a person to find what they are looking for so what is the 3m adhesive used to hold on the knee grips or pads to the gas tank or what other brands will work?

Thanks,

TT

I use the silicone adhesive made by Yamaha. It's black and comes in a tube. No acetic acid stink and it is easy to work with.

Evostick and Bostick will probably damage the paint, however any pva glue will be fine. Paint it onto the kneepads and onto the exact area on the tank, best to draw around the kneepad ,let it dry and push together. As it is a rubber based solution it can easily be peeled off with no damage to you paint.

Correction: I use the black silicone from HONDA. I use the threebond sealer from Yamaha. Incidentally, the threebond sealer used to be a universal sealer, but I discovered that it doesn't resist the ethanol in our E10. So I use good old permatex on carbs and fuel systems, when a sealer is appropriate or necessary.
