my 66 t100 is starting to smoke and falter a bit after idling for about 10 minutes. is this a carb issue? my throttle screw is on the verge of being all the way in. got brand new plugs in, and good gas.

IDLING FOR 10 MINUTES?? THAT'S A LONG TIME TO LET AN AIR COOLED ENGINE RUN WITH NO FLOW OF AIR TO COOL IT. IT'S PROBABLY PULLING SOME OIL IN PAST THE VALVE STEMS AND RINGS DUE TO THE HEAT EXPANDING EVERYTHING. I'M ASSUMING (BAD WORD) THAT THE SMOKE IS BLUE, IF IT'S BLACK IT'S PROBABLY BECAUSE THE AIR SCREW IS TOO FAR IN. TURN IT IN UNTIL IT SEATS LIGHTLY, THEN BACK IT OUT 11/2 TURNS. FROM THERE, ADJUST THE IT UNTIL THE IDLE IS AT ITS SMOOTHEST. START WITH THE ENGINE AT NORMAL OPERATING TEMPS, LIKE JUST AFTER A RIDE, AND PUT A FAN IN FRONT OF THE BIKE TO PROVIDE SOME COOLING AIR.

AS DENNIS MILLER SAYS: "OF COURSE, THAT'S JUST MY OPINI0N....I COULD BE WRONG!! JIM

Why are you letting it idle for 10 minutes? Do you keep a fan on it while idling? If it doesn't do this when you run it on the road for an hour or so, then I would think it's just overheating.

There aren't many valid reasons to leave a bike idling for 10 minutes.

If you decide to change the tires, let me know. I could use them.
