Well, I picked up this one on Monday. I was amazed that it actually rolled out of this lean-to it was living in. After a quick de-grease and wash, here's what I found.
1216 miles, still has the sticker on the speedo, original everything except the front fender is plastic from Japan. The tank is clean, with no dents, the cap still latches and the decals are still legible. The seat is not cracked or torn, the rear fender is un-molested and straight, the tail light is fine, but the wiring cover is rusted. the exhaust is solid, and has all the burn guards, the engine covers are corroded, but should polish up just fine. The points cover even cleaned up during the de-greasing. The tires and rims are shot, but the hubs appear to be salvageable.
Maybe the best part is that when I removed the plug, it kicked over smoothly! I still have to do a compression test, but I don't think the motor is hurt too badly. I haven't looked into the tranny yet, but it shifts ok.
I think this may have to be a project for next winter. I sprayed two cans of pbblaster on everything, and wrapped it in plastic to soak until I have time to fiddle with it.
Even my wife was pleased to see this one, and it is now number nine in the garage! So.. I guess it's a keeper unless someone really wants it. Either way, it won't be a parts bike.
Finally, if you have a price in mind for the Honda, let me know. I have a friend looking for one.
