I see a lot of nicely restored Triumphs that have very distinctive hardware that is cadmium plated. Was that the way they came from the factory? I'm not a rivit counter by any means, but I'm restoring a '68 Bonneville and I think that stuff looks trick! Does anyone know which hardware in particular had this plating? Thanks in advance----Bill

Frosted cad plating was used on most things which weren't chrome.....axle adjusters and nuts, engine mount bolts, head bolts, frame bolts, coil mounts, etc.
It isn't done much anymore outside of the aircraft industry. I had an address of a plater in Arizona who still did it, but I can't lay hands on it now.
Cad is very toxic so I wouldn't use it myself, but up to you. You can use stainless and glass bead it, looks pretty good.

Yeah, agree with Mecchanica and the blasted stainless don't rust. For 1968, cad plating had been replaced with Zinc plating, which is easier to get done.

I had all my cad plating done in Worcester MA. Very toxic stuff. Most of the platers I know won't touch the stuff anymore, but there is still a few people here in MA that do it. I'll get he name of the guy I used.
