I use a 12 gauge shotgun cleaning kit on the 650/750 cranks, 16 gauge for the 500s. Run small drill bits into the drillways by hand. I use Gunk and high pressure water to finish it off, after scraping, then brushing with the brass brushes. Install the tube, spray the threads of the flywheel bolt and the hole in the crank with lacquer thinner or brake cleaner, blow dry, and then put a drop of red loctite on the bolt threads and torque the bolt to 33 ft/lbs. Then spray with WD 40 or other light oil to keep it from rusting. Fit the plug...I use the ones with an allen broaching to make future removal easier....and stake it with a small centerpunch.
