I am restoring a 64 Bonneville from a basket, and I could use some help. I need to make/modify the rubber mounts for the oil tank and switch panel. I have the correct bolts and nuts, but I don't know the correct order of assembly. The parts manual is no help for what I need to know. I need to know what is the order of pieces from front to rear, on both sides, and how far through how many pieces do the rubbers extend before the rubber washers are added. This would have been much easier if the correct rubbers are available, but no one seems to have them. Thanks for any help.

Those washers are flat rubber washers with quarter inch holes and about 3/16" thick. I think you should be able to get them. I can check if you'd like. The rubbers mount on either side of the steel cross arms of the battery box mounts, if I recall. I will check on availability tomorrow, if you don't get some help in the mean time.

Many thanks. I ordered them from Raber's, but they didn't ship any. It was the only place I could find them.
I can probably source something that will work with a little modification.
If I'm correct, the order should be frame tab, battery box mount, oil tank tab. Other side would be frame tab, battery mount, switch cover. Should this whole assembly be bushed with rubber? Or does something rest on just the bolt? :???:
This seems like a no-brainer, but that's probably why I'm stumped. I'm also wondering why a shouldered bolt for this?
Hanging a thin edge on a rubber sleeve seems to be asking for premature failure. The later style mounts make much more sense to me.

They are just 2 plain washers, and the other 6, have a nose on them (spigot rubbers) which fit into the large diameter holes in the oiltank and battery strap mountings. They are not shouldered bolts that is for the later machines. I made 4 studs threaded each end which made fitting a lot easier than ordinary bolts as there isn't much room at the tapered part of the frame.

I can picture where four of the spigot rubbers go, but where do the other two fit?
Also, the holes in my switch panel are significantly smaller than those in the oiltank. Same part number for those rubbers also, so where do they go?
A sudden thought! Do these spigot rubbers isolate the oiltank, and the battery box straps, but not the switch panel? Such a light panel would need very little isolation, as provided by the flat washers. The oiltank and battery, being much heavier, would need the larger rubbers. Could I possibly be correct here? If so, don't tell my wife!
Mecchanica, if you can source the correct pieces, please let me know.
Thanks so much for the replies gentlemen. :-D

TBS is talking about the 66-on rubber mounts. The 63-65 are different. I will see if I can land on a few of the rubbers.

No Kim I'm not talking about '66 onwards rubbers, I'm talking '63-'65. the spigoted rubbers have a nose on them about 1/8" deep. triumph part numbers 70-5247 (6off) and 70-5248 (2off). The spigoted rubbers fit in the 2 battery straps and oil tank.

Gotcha, I never considered them to be "spigot rubbers", as it's more like a step. As I usually dump the battery box, my memory on this matter is very fuzzy. My first Triumph, a 63, had this set up, but that's several decades ago. I'll have to look this one up in my 65 parts catalog. Somewhere around here.
General rule of thumb is that the rubber goes on either side of the item you are trying to isolate. In this case, the battery box rail.
