Hi All,

Could you kind folks prepare a list of the electric measuring tools that will come in handy as I begin working on my new to me '69 T100C?

I'll need your help as the last time I picked one up was in high school (almost 40 years ago)...

Thanks,
John M.

First of all patience. A cheap volt meter, (I got mine from Radio Shack, works great), a prong voltage tester with a light, (great for tracing shorts, and a timing light if you are going install a Boyer system. Check for fire first by pulling your plugs, ground them against the motor and kick. And finally, do you know why the Germans never bombed the Lucas factory during WWII, they had the lights on and they couldn't see them..... Good luck on your project.

Hi, guy's. Don't take any Lucas handlebar switch's apart with out something to catch the little springs and ball bearings. Ask me how I know. Replacements are about 100 bucks a switch. I believe that was a long way from high tech, even in 1979. Sounds like gbc's got you covered. Any problems, someone, somewhere will have an answer on this site. Luck and patience to you. Okie

flash speaks truth about those handlebar switches!

in addition to patience, voltmeter, strobe:

soldering iron, lots and lots of connectors, miles of tape, a spool of wire (doesn't matter what color, you'll remember later! yeah, right.), a sharp knife.

Thanks guys!

I was at Sears this past weekend looking at the craftsman volt meters. For a few bucks more I picked up a multi-meter so I think I'm pretty much covered.

Johnnypence, excellent point about the spool of wire - but what gauge?

i don't remember right now: just take a pig-tail s***** with you to the hardware store.

and in all seriouslessness, if you do end up making patches with wire, put some masking tape or first-aid tape (not that you'd have any of THAT around) on both ends of the new section. figure out some labeling convention for all the wire-patches (functional or color coded, whatever works for you). that will actually help a lot later.

i pity the fool who goes into my tail light assembly: all the wires are "orange," but I know what's what....

Maybe "s c r a p" was too close to "s c r a p p l e", which is, after all, private parts of a pig.

hee hee

Sometimes the forbidden word list won't help in your morning anagrams.

why is it I look at your name and keep hearing the Crystals old record He's A Rebel?
But really I'm very proud of you buying a spool of wire. most guys just cut up and old extension cord, but then the TV dont work. Some hi class guys take an orange grounded three extension cord wire for the taillite lead.
(Note you can get them free from the neighbors yard during the holidays)
