I'd like to hear from some of you about what brands of tires you've been choosing lately.

I need to get a new tire for the front of my Bonnie and wonder what other riders have been buying.

I'm running new Avon Roadrunners, 90/90 front and 110 rear. They are nice and sticky, but I wish I had stayed with 110 up front for looks.. I had a dunlop elite on the rear, 120/18 last . Good tire ,but had to run 36 psi in it. Rode hard. Had to cut my chain guard for clearance. Clearance was nil on the master cylinder side. Lots of choices out there. Okie

i'll vouch for Avon. i have supervenoms (and have been criticized for getting a tire with a speed rating higher than my bike will go) because i got a great deal on them, but would buy from avon again even if i had to pay regular retail. they ride great. very sticky.

and you can call the factory for information on tire pressure or any nerdy question you might have, and there's an even nerdier guy on the other end who LOVES to talk about motorcycle tires.

I have been using Metzelers on my T140 for the last few years, perfectly happy with them. The 110/90 rear runs a bit closer to the chain guard than the 4.10 original size tyres, but its OK - just.

I like the Avon supervenoms for bikes that get ridden a lot and/or regular highway use; but for show bikes and 'round-towners, I much prefer the Japanese built Dunlop trials universals in the original pattern.

that's interesting granddaddyZ. is there a qualitative difference in the around-town scoot and the all-day iron-butt ride in the two tires? or is it just a price/value thing?

GPZ,
Do you mean a Dunlop K70, sometimes referred to as a universal tire? Trials universal is a block pattern tire that made by many different manufacturers and is used primarily for off road, and is the only tire tread legal in observed trials competition. There is a big difference.

Yes, the Dunlop K70.

Supervenoms have more tread life with highway use.

whatever you chose stick with a GOOD TOP BRAND if you plan to ride in less than perfect weather. Cheap tires cause religious experiences in bad weather :-D
