I sent in to Triumph my dealer survey for my new Speedmaster. I posed the question to them...why not a "new" Speed Twin or some model redo from the 50s? Very few of these bikes seem to be around compared to the 60s bikes. I am too young to have owned one of those and what a cool era. What if Triumph redid a version of the Speed Twin, say 500-600cc. Keep it narrow like the old bikes. Price it between $6k-$6.5k? Who would not want one of these? I just bought a `62 Tiger...the old bikes are very cool. Low weight, narrow, simple. Triumph needs an "entry" level bike to round out their line. Why not something vintage. Why not even another headlight nacelle? I'm not saying they need to make a knockoff, but take that awesome 50s styling and create something retro modern.

Too late, they "used" the panache of the Speed Twin name on the Speed Triple.

I AGREE, THOSE EARLY BIKES WERE TOO COOL. I KNOW A FELLOW THAT IS RESTORING A 1938. Triumph can go a long way back and come out with a new old bike! The American, Speemaster, Bonnie and the scrambler are well thought out in the looks dept.

I agree. Look at the way Harley has used it's heritage over the years to come up with new models. Triumph should be proud of it's heritage. Look at all the adversity it overcame. The factory being leveled in 1940 by WWII. They have over a 100 years of design they can incorporate subtlely into any model they choose. I say the next modern classic needs to be something special, make is something retro steeped in tradition.
