Hello again all!! As you can see I have been taking advantage of the long Xmas vacation. Still saving for those mufflers and probably a new seat. If only I had lots of money and time! It is coming along though...slow but sure...
Here is a before and a current pic of the restoration..
ENJOY and any comments welcome!!!
Trav

Trav-
I just have one comment about your work-----
You're making me look lazy on the 72 T-Bolt!

All BS aside--nice!

Got my front wheel back together after finding an acceptable rim, cleaning and replating spokes and nipples, painting hubs, replating brake levers, nuts & bolts, etc. Got the bike rolled up into the unused sleeping porch last night. (It's glassed in for the Winter.) MUCH warmer than the barn!

Gotta go get to work! :hammer:

T-Bolts are cool! I had a 64 backin 1969-1971 and I 'created" a 1966 from a few junkers in 1988. I had the right main bearing updated and went through everything!
I sold the 66 when I lost my job in 1990. That Thunderbolt was a tourer, I wish I could remember what brand of shocks were on the rear. They were replacement and made it soooo smooth.
Have you been through the motor? Front end?

If the 'right' beezer crosses my path, I may just trade the Trumpet. When you getter on the road, wind it through a twisty for me.

Nice Beezer! Looking at those pics make me want to up the timetable on my Firebird project. Right now it's at #3,which at the rate I'm working means sometime around the turn of the next century.

I'd like first right of refusal on your old seat when you are ready to sell it.

Very nice. It looked wonderful on the trailer. Was the motor or tranny bad or did you just want a show bike? I'd of loved to have it as it was , Original.

Trav, you got me itchy and I started working on my A50.

Built the wiring harness, overhauled the carb, and pulled the top end off (going to lap the valves and check the rings).

Might have it running by this evening.

Thanks for the comments fellas.
This is my first classic British restoration. The bike was about 80% there. It was missing a fair amount of engine parts that I had to aquire. I completely went through the engine and actually got it to fire a couple of times in the basement last night (pew!!! yes the wife was complaining...again...). I soaked the cork petcock assembly in boiling water so they would swell. They do not leak a drop! The Amal carb is leaking quite a bit from the float boal gasket. I have a new one but I wonder if the needle valve is shot making it leak??? Any ideas about these old Amal carbs?

Mike: Get busy and post some pics of your Tbolt!!

GrandPaulZ: Not sure if you would want this seat. The upholstery is really good but the seat pan is pretty bad. The bolts where it is supposed to attach to the frame are cracked and missing so it would take some creativity to mount it to a bike. If you want it, I will sacrifice it in trade for your A50???!!!!

We'll chat later about a deal on the seat (when you find a replacement).

MEANWHILE - I GOT MINE RUNNING TOO!

Took a lot of kicking, then adjusting the timing a bit and kicking some more, before I finally swapped the wired and it fired on the first kick!

(That's what I get for not taking the time to find my copy of the shop manual under the rubble in my office).

Anyway, just a bit more to sort out before I can take it for a spin.

Yours is miles ahead of mine, cosmetically, and I'm missing the Right side engine cover; good thing it doesn't hold oil on that side!
