New member here...I just picked up a 1979 Special that has the MAC 2-into-1 exhaust on it. This is what I would like to know:

1. What are the stock jet sizes for this bike?

2. What are good jet sizes (at least to start with) for this engine with the open exhaust and high-flow air filters?

Any help will be appreciated. I have tried searching for the answers, but can't find them.

I ride a '79 Bonnie. I could be wrong, but I think the motors are the same. Stock carbs: Amal2930's, main jet 200, needle jet105, needle type 2c3, needle position 2, throttle valve cut away 3, pilot jet -25, starter jet 50, primary air jet 3.5 . Those are the OEM specs. I"m running straights since 1981 with good results with the following following: Main jet 230, needle jet 106, needle type 2a1, needle position 3, throttle valve cutaway 3 1/2, pilot jet -15, starter jet 50 (same). Primary air jet, omit (do not use). Got this change/over from an article in a magazine by a competition tuner. Great improvement, plugs burn brown when carbs a adjusted properly. Starts easily, if you can call starting a Triumph easy . My '79 came with electronic ignition (RITA) and it hasn't ever failed. Good luck and welcome. I'm sure you will get some more responses, check them out. This forum has helped me on Triumphs alot. Good people, don't hesitate to ask. PS: I have full free flowing air filters also.

The BMOA group is one of the finest I have the pleasure to be associated with (7 years now). Really nice folks and they go out of thier way to help out new members and even non-members with BritBike help & spares.

They have a British & European Rallye every year on the weekend after Mother's Day in New Ulm, just up I-10 from Columbus.

Camping, swap meet, games, rides, raffles and an EXCELLENT bike show with about 100 bikes every year. The bike games are unbelievable.
