I have people mentioning pushing in the spring loaded plunger from the outside for checking/priming

Has anybody else heard of this?

Thanks

Mark

I think they may be talking about the tiny little plunger on top of the float bowl of the carb that pushes the float off it's seat to allow the carb to flood. That's called "tickling" the carb, and it gives you a good squirt of gas into the cylinder for easier starting.

Bonnevilles don't have, and don't need, compression release levers or plungers.

i don't see anything to push there but older triumph (fifties) had a little stick protruding out of the valve to check oil pressure(when not protruding...no pressure!!).
this was.i think, on pre-unit triumphs.
ben
anyway ,nothing to push...just look at...

Right, the pressure indicator that pops out isn't something you use to "prime" with.

The kickstarter is the only lever you can prime with!

Just a thought about oil regulating valves. Mine wouldn't seat after an oil change because of a score on the units wall. The thing that woriries me is the red oil light does'nt make till it drops 15 psi. What do you think?
