Thanks to everyone who responded to my post on 'Site Suggestions' about Aussie avatars, we now have the choice of the Aussie flag (as used by your truly) and the Eureka flag. I have sent a pm to Shawn to say thanks, if you decide to do the same it would be nice. I`ll post this on the other forums as well, for maximum exposure.

I'm quite happy to fly the union jack with my southern cross :wink:

I was slapped on another site.......that is the Union Flag.........the Jack is the maritime version......I believe it has the white background.

Union Jack or Union Flag.
It is often stated that the Union Flag should only be described as the Union Jack when flown in the bows of a warship, but this is a relatively recent idea. From early in its life the Admiralty itself frequently referred to the flag as the Union Jack, whatever its use, and in 1902 an Admiralty Circular announced that Their Lordships had decided that either name could be used officially. Such use was given Parliamentary approval in 1908 when it was stated that "The Union Jack should be regarded as the national flag."

I agree with johnquinnell, its good to see at a glance what your locals are posting.

I know were neighbors guys but I would have to insist on losing a couple of stars :-) .

I had to apologize to a couple of angry Englishmen once when I was working for a company that flew the Union Jack up-side-down at a trade show.
You live and learn and I will never forget that lesson.
