i'm raising a perfectly cold paulaner oktoberfest to everybody who got out and put some dead bugs on their visors today. what a glorious day it was.

the next one i'll raise is for those who had to stay home and tinker.

I got out for some road testing after spending some garage time.....had to bring in reinforcements......a gang of girls....St Pauli girls. Ran out of Newcastle.
It's clouding up, so I think I will go commit some more mayhem on the poor Thruxton.

got up this am took dogs for as walk looks like its going to be a good day want to go for ride. oops grass to long, pile of brush in back yard needs to go in recycle bags. no ride today gotta do yard work. pull out cub cadet needs gas. grab can and van go for gas 75degrees out look at that group out riding why not me? winters coming.
makin second pass at front yard look down street here comes an old buddy (we have run around off and on since '68). said he thought he would stop by cause it was a nice day. he just got out of hospital after 21days of ICU kidneys everything shut down, he doesn't know who called ambulance & shouldn't be here now.
got out of car with a walker (wheelchair in back) we talked a while then he left.
finished cuttin grass and yardwork had pint with dinner and lifted a toast to them that rode or them that tinkered today. I dint get to ride but I realize how lucky I am. got reasonable health and old Triumph's I'll go for a putt later this week.
I am a very lucky man

I too had a few hours to play over the weekend, both tinkering and on the road. I also had a few whiskeys to follow - daughter's fiance got posted to Darwin (3800KMs away), and will be deployed to Iraq in a few weeks. Wedding (supposed to be in 3 weeks) postponed until he returns. Raised my glass to all those in harms way overseas.

Getting warmer down here - looking forward to a long summer.

Took the Trident out today for a blast through the Adelaide Hills via Mclaren Vale and through the vine yards.
Weather brilliant, stopped for a beer and a meal at Macclesfield then off again to Mt Compass, Victor Harbour then back home. On the negative side too many bugs committing suicide on my Skid lid, glasses, face and headlght.

Ride safe stay upright

Ah, yes! Working on electrical wiring in the rain. Sounds like a good hobby for people with a death wish!

Well, seeing as the original post was regarding Sunday 10/ 1, I'll relate my story... 406.4 miles on my T100 in the Fall edition of the "Slimey Crud Motorcycle Gang Cafe Racer Run".
Riding around the twisty , hilly backroads of Southwest Wisconsin to find the dot on the map called "Leland". It was a great day for a ride, and the group that was assembled were a good group to ride with. The ride was topped off with a dash from Janesville Wi. to Chicago to beat a thunderstorm. We ran neck and neck with the storm, even got sprinkled on twice, but we ultimately beat it to the Windy City by about 15 minutes.
Next year, for one of the 2 runs, I'll trailer my '67 to a nearby town and enjoy the roads to and atmosphere in Leland while riding my antique Meridan Triumph, instead of my Hinkley Triumph.
