I have a 1973 TR5T. The head is marked 71-2490. The parts manual calls for a 71-0277 head. Can someone tell me what year and model Triumph this 71-2490 head came from? I have searched the Triumph CD to try and match up the part number with a year and model, but have had no luck. Have not found this part number on any price lists of supplier. The intake manifold is an E7578, which is correct for a 69 on T100C or S.

I would appreciate any help with this.

thanks,

71-2490 is not a part number,as such. it is more a casting number parts number.
After casting the part was machined to a certain specification then a part number applied
Part number for your head WITH valve guides is number 71-0277. The same part was used on 69 or 70 tri 500's. The reason your casting number is greater than your part number is in approx 71 the head part number was changed to a 71 2600 or 2700 series number. I am sure they share the same updated casting/casting number with your head and carry a different part number due to finishing differences There should be a circular date casting stamp in one of the rocker box valleys to identify the year cast.

Thanks Kadutz! I looked for the 71-0027 number, didn't find it, and assumed 71-2490 was a part number. I appreciate your help.
