I just got my triumph 500 rebiult with new rings,valvle guides,seals and bearings.

how should I go about break in?
note: I have no Speedo or tach.

you didnt make a rebore or a crank regrinding?
so your running in should be short!run it cool for 500 miles without exceeding 5000rpm and change you oil.always be cautious to warm the motor for ten miles or so before giving him full throttle!

Just keep it from lugging (probably most important), keep the top speeds moderate, and run it through a tank of gas at varying speeds like some around town, some countryside, and some short highway jaunts just a bit slower than the surrounding traffic.

My book says to change the oil after 250, 500 and 1000 miles also.
