Hello all.
I'm still on the never ending hunt for a pre-unit TR6 project, preferably a '59 model. I'm thinking of going to the Mid-Ohio swap meet in July this year, I've never been. Is this a good place to find pre-unit project bikes? Anybody got any tales of good finds there? Thanks.

I've got most of a '62 TR6SS lower lump, tranny, jugs, and head with rockers. No primary.

Rough shape, but there you have it. Make an offer via e-mail if you are interested.

AMA Vintage Days, (AKA Mid-Ohio) is a very large event that includes a very large swap meet. You very well could find a pre unit TR6 for sale there, then again you might not. I would suggest attending though, you'll meet and make contact with all manner of people who will be helpful in your quest, and in the project that will follow acquisition.
Some other leads that you may find helpful would include: The Antique Motorcycle Club of America, (joining will be helpful), meet at Wauseon Ohio on July 21-23. Pick up a copy of Walnek's Classic cycles. Contact local shops that specialize in Brit iron and ask them to keep a look out for what you are seeking, ( If you are in Northeast Illinois I'd reccommend Morrie's Place in Richmond or Expert in Hobart Indiana). Contact local clubs, (the Chicago Norton Owners Club is a great group of enthusiasts that might be helpful). The AMCA meet in Davenport Iowa over Labor day. THese are a few places to start. Good Hunting!

Thanks OldTime for all the suggestions. I am familiar with a few of those, I check in with Ed at Morries every few months. I may also check out the Davenport meet this year, you're not the first person to tell me its a good source, plus its an easy drive from me.
Anyway, thanks again, I appreciate it.

You may want to contact Baxter Cycle in Marne Iowa (712)781-2351. Randy always has a ton of project bikes for sale and the entire basement of one of his warehouses is full of nothing but bike frames. He's constantly getting new stuff in and ships bikes and parts all over the world. His summer open house is in August. To answer your original question, from what I hear the swap meet at Mid-Ohio is the largest in the country and does include complete bikes. I know Baxter always goes up there every year and sells a bunch of stuff but comes back with even more stuff. Hope this helps!

I strongly encourage U 2 attend Mid-Ohio if at all possible. It doesn't look like U live too far away. U may find what you're looking for, U may not (Probly won't as pre- OIF models are getting pretty "dried-up" & what U DO find isn't worth much- but there's always that chance U might get LUCKY) anyway, it will at least put U in touch with many other "sources". Be There ! :hammer:
