proceed with caution
bike cant be a 74 check vin number should be an alpha character then a "J" followed by 5 numbers(such as KJ12345)
if it is a 74. this bike may be a BITSA Left hand shift is 76 up
as is disc rear brake. Front fender and brackets are 73 thru 77 vintage and air box covers are 71/72 and have been plated. Non stock mufflers have alreadry been noted.
I suspect bike is an 76 or 77 vin number will tell all. 76 will be alpha+N and 5 digets a 77 will be alpha +P and 5 digets.
Current owner may not know what it is as I believe I see a military base sticker on left front slider. that indicates he is probably younger.
While the bike looks nice a non stock bike isnt worth top dollar(at least in my book) but I'm cheap

hi kadutz,
you're right ,i've been a little quick on examining the pictures but i'm not very fond of absolute originality ,matching numbers etc..after all my bike which looks rather "original is a complete bitsa(build from bits of 65 to 71!!)if i wanted to sell her it would be a serious drawback but these bikes are made to run as well as possible and i don't bother about the selling back price.

Ben
Just so there is no misunderstanding I have no problems with BITSA's. A friend of mine used to build Tramahas
(Triumph and Yamaha parts)and Bazukis(BSA and Suzuki).
As for the value of ANY of my bikes it doesn't concern me as they aren't for sale.
Additional noted items on the advertised bike are the seat is from a 78/80 (T140 or TR7), rear turn signals are missing and the horn is chrome(therefore a replacement)and shocks have ben changed. But, to me, the big thing is it is advertised as a 74 and no way it is a 74.
As far as the price thats between the two parties involved.
It is more than I would go with or without the cat. :-D

'75 was first year for Left-foot shift, so it could be an "early release" 75 titled as a '74 in late '74. This practice was everyday business back then.

I quote from the book BONNIE
"Just over two months later,on June 25th that year, the last machine with traditional right footshift (right foot-operated gearchange lever)was completed at engine No. GK.62239 and the first 1976 model with cross-over shaft left-side footshift, complete with the new rear disc brake assembly was introduced on production on 10th July."
75 or earlier right hand shift
76 or later left hand shift
as a coincidence today is June 25th
