Hey y'all,

I had a fuel fitting crack on me (the one at the bottom of the main petcock). I'll be replacing all the lines and fittings this weekend, but I didn't know whether or not I should use teflon tape to get a better seal on the threads. Theoretically if the flanges on the nipples are good, no gas should ever touch the threads, but I don't wanna do something stupid here.

Your thoughts are appreciated,

Stormin!

Stormin,

You're right, if the flanges on the petcock and the pipe are in good condition, and the nut is done up snug, they won't leak. If the petcock starts to turn when you tighten the nut, use a 5/8" or 3/4" open ended spanner to hold the petcock centre tube straight. That way it won't turn in the tank against the lock nut, and snap apart the petcock thread (inside the tank hole). Don't ask.....

I use the teflon tape (have been for years) and it seems to work just fine ! No leaks. Easy on, Easy off. Anything else? :-D
