I'm thinking of selling my '73 Tiger 750 and wanted to know what people think a fair asking price would be. I'm the second owner. 8300 original miles. Matching VINs. All original parts - except tires and Boyer. Electrical system could use some sorting out. Headlight kills the engine. Directionals don't work. Engine stalls when idle goes below 1200rpm. Has an oil leak - runs down the left side of centerstand can't see where it's coming from.
It's a great bike (aside from the issues listed above) and I'm most likely going to invest in repairing it but just wanted to know what it would be worth if I wanted to sell.
As it is now, you wouldn't be likely to get many offers over $2,500. Install a new battery, and fix the oil leak (probably just gasket and/or drain plug washer), and you may get another $1,000.
Never give up, never give up. Jon, put it up for a while if you are burned out. S***, I'm going to sell mine everytime it gives me a problem or I f*** it up. Give it a few weeks rest. If I still had my FLH I'd ride out and give you a hand. I bet the two of us could get it going, especially if there was some biker a** waiting for us over on Figeroa. :hammer:  That old shovel head made three runs to CAL and back without letting me down. A battery and I bump started it. My fault. A flat on the rear in Needles, sweat. Hang in there. I should talk. WHY ME GOD
okie is right.don't give up.your problems on this bike are quite easy to fix .headlight killswitch?surely a faulty switch..
staling under1200..carb or timing?
oil leak:gasket fore and aft the gearbox pinion.don't sell it:fix it..you'll get rewarded ..

Well...like I said I'll most likely end up fixing it...or having someone else fix it. In all honesty I love the thing. It's a cool bike. As far as selling it I've just reached a new level of frustration this week. I stopped home for lunch on Monday went downstairs an hour later and saw that it had p***ed oil all over my parking space. Not just a few drops but almost all of what was in it. I walked away and haven't looked at it since.
I've had the thing for 2 months now and have never been able to ride it for more than 15-20 minutes at a time. Something ALWAYS goes wrong with it. Honestly, I think it hates me.
Hang in there. Nothing you listed really sounds that bad. If you sell her, you'll regret it. There are some really knowledgeable Triumph guys in you neck of the woods who could definitely help you out. If you want to ship the bike and have it thoroughly gone through, there is a forum member here that does that for a living.

Actually that's kind of what I have planned. I'll be travelling almost the entire month of July. I was going to drop it off and have my mechanic do just that. Don't know how he is for time though he's on vacation right now so I haven't been able to ask him. If he's booked I'll have to come up with a plan B. Who's the forum member?
