Left side front fork cover (headlight ear) down low flush with the top of the fork boots.

The proper place is on the left side of the top of the gas tank, the decal should be approximately even in a straight line with the edge of the gas cap closest to the triple clamp(front of bike). I am positive this is right, I went and looked at my 100% original 1967 US spec Bonneville before I sat down and posted this reply.

I looked this up in one of my books last night. At first it looks like in some pictures it is on the gas tank, but Gaylins book says it should go on the left headlight bracket????? Kind of confusing. It also states that either 1967 or 66 (I'm at work now and can't remember) they changed it fron the tank.

It just goes to show you the books aren't always right. When in doubt, find someone with one and ask them. That's why I keep bugging Jim Ballard about his 1970 TR6

There are no other decals on the tank. The seat on my bike is all black. I have never seen an original condition '67 with a gray top seat, but I have seen the gray quilt top with white piping on resto's. According to "Bonnie", the book about Bonnevilles by JR Nelson, (considered the bible of Triumph Bonnevilles),1967 US spec Bonnevilles should have a quilt top all black seat. The affore mentioned gray seat was for the home market and general export (non USA) units.

My '67 is a later model, it has concentric carbs, and the Aubergine over Alaskan white with the gold stripe between them paint scheme. Early in the model year the paint scheme was Aubergine over Gold w white stripe, and they had monobloc carbs.

Don't panic, there are alot of people here that will steer you right. I'm not familiar with gaylins book, but I assure you that the "Made in England" decal is not on my gas tank. I can't go look at my bike at this moment, but I'll check it out early tomorrow and post up the location.
Decal placement, as is the seat, could be different on the three versions of the bike: domestic, general export(non-USA), and US spec. In some cases things are different depending on whether the bike was shipped from the factory to the eastcoast distributor in Baltimore, or the westcoast distributor Johnson Motors in So Cal. (In the case of a '67 road Bonnie, I don't recall any distributor differences).
If you PM me your mailing address, I'll send you some prints of my Bonneville. I don't have a digital camera or a set up to email pics yet.
