What is the best replacement carburator for a TR6R? Should I stay with Amal or go with another brand? I am not intrested in keeping it original, just want something that works good and is reliable. And won't break the bank.

If you need new, Mikuni will be cheaper.

If you are going used, may as well get a good used Amal.

Question
Will a mikuni fit between the head and backbone on an OIF model? Not asking for an opinion have you done it or seen it done? :???:

I've seen Mikunis on OIF Triumphs, with either the VERY flat K&N filter, or an MX style foam "sock" filter.

In fact, the TR6R that I'm restoring right now had a fairly nice condition Mikuni on it.

Mine HAD Mikuni's on it. One choke is backwards and is a very tight fit. Didn't like them at all. Still have them and will probably sell them.

Has anyone heard of or know anything about the new carburator by JRC Engineering? Looks good but I have not been able to find out much about it on the net.

They look like good inexpensive carbs. I haven't tried them yet, but I intend to.
