.....how everyone who sees your "Vintage" bike comments: "What year is that? I used to have one, too."? Yikes! If that were the case, the company NEVER would have gone out of business!!!! They would have been more popular than Hondas of the same era! Hmmm? :???:

" they wanted would probably closer to the truth". Everyone was broke in those days, remember. And 1500 bucks was hard to come by, even in Cal. ,for a young guy.

As a lad of 16, back in '65, a Triumph and a date with Racquel Welch were equally desireable & equally unattainable. I wound up with a CL90 Honda and was happy to have it! I rode the dog s*it out of it and it led me to dirt bikes which I rode & raced for many years until my back finally said "uncle".
But I never got over my love of the look & sound of a Triumph. So here I am at 58... and I finally have one... and you know, even after all these years ... it's everything I dreamed it would be! So the hell with Racquel.
Best to all,
GCoastDave

Besides Dave, 40 years later the Triumph still looks and sounds sexy, Racquel........, not so!

True, true Quag,
...and he'll always have the Triumph as long as he wants it!! Never saw one of them dump a guy....er, not at least in that sense.
Besides, maintenance on a Triumph is a lot cheaper: Jim

I get comments on my bike everytime I take it out. Some think its a new replica, others tell me their nostalgic "ownership" stories.

My wife & I ride up to a local park every day to take a walk. A few days ago, a middle aged guy pulled his 20-something son over by the arm... pointed and said: "That's a REAL motorcycle!". The boy then began spouting about his Yamakazooki etc. The dad just walked around the bike with that faraway look ...clearly, well on his way to another time and place.
Best to all,
GCoastDave
