I take them apart with the cases split, no doubt or worries after that.

I know "Duck" personally and have discussed the procedure with him....he swears by it and has had good luck with it. I guess it's up to the individual, but I think I'll try it the next time my top end is off.

I read that article last year and after ripping my engine apart, it occured to me that that might work if your trap was relatively clean. Mine was completely full of concrete like sludge. I doubt this would have worked on mine, but as part of regular maintenance....who knows. Jim let us knowif it works for you.

I for one would advise "DON'T DO THIS"
Dislodging the sludge like that will destroy your engine soon after you put the top end back together.
Do it properly, take the crankshaft out and don't be lazy.
