Cheers Roy - we get everywhere don't we !!!!

I need some detective work on this - how do I measure the wheel - by tape measure - outer rim to outer rim they are both 19.5", I guess that is 19
the width seems about 2" but front is a ickle bit thinner.

The bike is 52 but had a later subframe fitted by my father-in-law in order to have better suspension for a trip to the Arctic circle in 1970. The rear wheel rubbed a hole through the aluminium mudguard, mmmmmm???????

any advice welcomed

OK, so what do you want to do with it, road, off road, trials, scrambles? check to see if there are any markings on the rims, also are they steel or alloy.
Roy.

Roy, they are steel rims painted in a light blue in the centre and edges are chrome (mostly rusty chrome)
I'll try to clean them up tomorrow and see if any markings.

Bike will be off-road, round a field mainly. It has not run for 20 years, so getting it going will be a bit of a father and sons bonding moment ((we hope !!!)

cheers
