Maybe timing too far advanced?. I don't know how many k's on it, but maybe carbon build up on the head and ,or piston(increases compression). Sure sounds like pinging. I'd put a light on it first and then maybe a compression tester gauge. Maybe someone else can offer more options. I can only get 91 octane here and haven't notice anything, but mine is so loud I can't hear much anyway. How are your plugs looking? I think I might check that first. Lots of luck

:gpst: Go with what Flash suggests. T140s' are notorious for piston slap when cold and could well be pinking when hot.
Take the timing plug out of the primary case and see it the alternator nut is tight........... just a thought.

You need to locate the noise better!

It could be primary, top end, or big end.

I wouldn't be riding it though until you know what it is.

Top end could be a valve guide or a broken spring.

You may have a gudgeon/wrist pin out in the barrels.

It could be a big end,

It could be the shock absorber rubbers in the primary.

Or it could be the one of the previous mentioned post suggestions [just as easily], or - shock horror -it could be several of these all doing it at once.

I agree with trident, you need to be more accurate in pin-pointing the source of the problem. Could be most ANYTHING from primary chain needing adjustment to a broken part, loose nut or simply engine "pinging". Location, location, location! :hammer:
