Go to www.photobucket.com and open up a free account. You can then upload your pics to the site and use them to host them. All you need to do is copy the link or the [img] line to the forum and viola, we can all see this nice new bike!

That is almost unbelievable. I will now repeat some of the most over-used words and phrases typically in use when describing restored bikes, but please understand that I actually mean them, and I am not gushing or exaggerating:

GORGEOUS. Unbelievably clean job.

BEAUTIFUL, meticulous, perfect?

I am not a concours show judge, but I don't know that when one sees it, they would be inclined to start subtracting points for ANY reason!

(one suggestion, remove the "Hagon" stickers from the shocks).

What else can I say? Excellent work. Fantastic bike.

I've always thought that the pre-unit motors are the sexiest ones around.

Fantastic job. What a beautiful looking bike. You should be very proud of your work.

Fine looking bike. Takes me back to Africa, 1956. Nice job. Have you owned the bike long. It's amazing how much the little stuff adds up to, isn't it

Stormin.......................... That about sums it up  Like GPZ I have one little point, DON'T RIDE IT with horn there. you stand a very good chance of damaging the perfect paint on the front fender.
The horn should be inside the Nacelle, fastened to the bottom Yoke (Tree?). Believe me when I say it will damage the paint, I speak from a BAD EXPERIENCE.

Okiecityflash - the bike is/was my Dad's. He's had since about '61 or so, and gave it to me in '95. I got it running in about '99 in the "red" format, and rode it till about '03, when we started the real restoration. It's got 12,800 original miles on it, and all the serial number match. Most of the parts shown in the "blue" format are still original, with some minor NOS and replica replacements.

As for GPZ's and DAGAD's comment, I'm gonna remove the Hagon stickers as soon as I get a chance. The issue with the horn placement is a new one to me. I never new it went in the nacelle. When I get some time, I'll have to move it there. I think I'd die if the paint job got messed up.

That's a beautiful job stormin.
Did you do the full restoration by yourself?
It's great to see the before and after shots like that to see the fanatastic transformation.
Is there some type of ruling on this site as to how you post (insert pics) in your message?
Apart from obvious tank, front guard, air cleaner changes, would you be kind enough to list the work done so us newbies can get a better appreciation of all the detail that went into this resto?
Oh and does it have a rear tail light in the finished job? (cant see one in the pic)
Enough questions, that's one nice mount you now have. Congrats.

Thanks John,

The tail light needed a little more work when I took the pic, so it wasn't ready to install yet. I did some of the work myself, but not too much. My Dad was working with a guy who did the majority of the teardown and coordination. Some of the mechanical work was also done a few years ago by Hermy's. In a nutshell, here's what's been done (in no certain order):

Full teardown to frame - major subs left intact where we could
Tear down and rebuild the top end (rings, valves, springs)
Completely rewire the bike (new harness)
Recover seat
new rubber stuff everywhere
Rechrome, repaint, respoke wheels
Tear down, rebuild, repaint front end
Rebuild magneto and new pickups
Rebuild clutch, clean up basket
New (old) tank with NOS badges and pads (painted and Kreemed)
Rebuild front drum (3 times)
Oil tank brazed from leaks and cracks - powdercoated
New shocks
1 or 2 motor brackets fab'd by hand
cracked fender fixed
Some new bolt kits
Rework kick and shop stands to remove mods
Lots more paint, polishing, chrome and powder coating

That's what I can remember at the moment. The funny thing is that we never started out to do a full restoration. 8 years later...

Stormin you have done a great job, and if my screen/eyes are to be trusted, the colour is exactly how it should be.. a friend had a later one which was black and ivory.. another had one that same silver/blue sheen, dont know what to call the colour.
