Thanks for the help. I had a good look at the parts manual and after KADUTZ's description I located the slots in the front of the battery frame and a hook on the rear of that frame.
Now knowing that Edward Turner had already OK'd the use of bicycle parts on his Meridan Triumphs in the form of a cotter pin to hold the kick start onto it's shaft, I didn't think he'd mind me following that theme with the use of a bicycle toe strap as my battery anchor :wow:
So I stole a galvanised chain link off my gym set, fitted a toe strap and bingo I now have a battery strap that should never move. Not exactly original but the battery now sits as snug as a bug in a rug and I still have yet to see something that looks remotely original under any Triumph seat I'm lucky enough to get a peak under. So thanks for your help and if any fellow Triumph owners don't have a strap, the one I made took all of 5 minutes to set up and looks quite neat. Have included a link for anyone interested?
