Trying to get some input on applying the "Made in England "transfer to the down tube on my T-140. I have the transfer, but no instructions. It has the logo printed on the back also. If anyone has applied one of these I'd appreciate any info you might have. :???:

Good morning Flash The transfer / decal is sandwiched between two sheets, a backing sheet which peels off first and then a top 'rubbing' sheet to apply the decal to the frame then can be removed.
Clean the frame surface with a grease remover, perhaps methelated spirits or a water soluable grease buster and dry completely.
Remove the backing paper, press firmly on the rubbing paper and then gently remove the rubbing paper. NICE NEW DECAL APPLIED. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Roy.

Thanx, probably why the first two floated away. What's Clear varnish in Merry Old England, Clear, like in auto paint? I believe paraffin is kerosene, right. :???:

Clear varnish is 'clear varnish'............... You may know it as clear laquer or yacht varnish. I will be very surprised if you have a varnish transfer, as they were replaced with water slide in the '50s. Then the water slide was replaced by what you know as 'decals' or stickers in the '70s.

Hi Roy, always appreciate your sharing. The first ones I ordered had no instructions so I just figure they were water transfers. They just floated away. With my new Lucas ign. switch I ordered three more. The instructions that came with them (now misplaced) mentioned cleaning the area with paraffin, then put clear varnish on the transfer side and put in place. There's a name on the back side also for locating. Then separate the backings, and I think it then said take a rag or a wash leather( I assume a chamois) and smooth out from the center. Wet backing and peel or slide off. Allow to dry for x number of hours and clear varnish over. Anyway something to that effect. They are only two something apiece, so it's no big deal. Does those directions sound familiar. I got them at Moore's cycle supply along with about $450 of other stuff. It don't take long to add up, but when I was stupid or stupider, I'd blow that in a night on poison. Oh well. Let me know what you think, ok. What I like about Moores is 2 day delivery, small stuff, for less than 5 bucks.

Sounds good to me for varnish transfers, but a quick call to Moores will confirm your thoughts.
Roy.
