I got a problem. The leads coming off my transducer are black/yellow and white/ black. All the schematics show them to be white /orange and white / purple connecting to the harness leads, white/orange and white/purple. The harness leads are correct. I didn't mark them because I had the schematics. Ain't that something. Can any one help. I'm all done except for this snafu. Maybe it doesn't matter, just being a magnet. Thanks again

It does matter, but won't drastically damage the engine if you connect them wrong.

The black/Yellow is normally (ie Points system) for the right hand side cylinder, and B/W for the left hand. If you're running a Boyer, these should match up with the leads coming out of the black box. You may need to check what colours these leads from the black box are connected to in the loom, and then match at the transducer end.

If all else fails, just connect the two wires however they fit best. It will still run (just), but will be a pig to start and will have no guts. If this is the case, connect them the other way.

Hope the oil pressure comes up for you!

Pete

OCF,
Just got home from work and checked the manual. You obviously have the factory fitted electronic ignition, but maybe have an after market transducer - this being the reason the wires coming from the transducer are not W/O & W/P.

Not having seen one of these, I'm not really qualified to give advice, but the reluctor/transducer system used by Triumph (going by the details in the Haynes) should not make much difference which way you hook it up. As mentioned before, try it one way, check the timing, and if everything is OK (engine running) then leave it. If you set the timing, and it's still not running sweet, change the connections around at the transducer end.

Good luck.

Pete

Thanks OzBloke, My timing should be pretty close, I marked the plate before removing it. Kicking it over with the plugs out to get oil return I was getting upwards of 20# on the oil gauge. I never got any before changing the oil pump, so I'm hopefull. Maybe T ran out of parts and ran out and bought one I think in the morning I'll cut to the chase and hook them up and see. Have a good evening PS:This unit is oem, I bought it new.

I looked a little closer and it appears both leads from the transducer are black and white. There is an orangish paper marker around one of them. I'm thinking this might be a marker so I'm going to connect it to the white/orange. Worth a try I guess. I wish I would have marked them, but like I said I have a shop manual reprint and the original owners manual with schematics . This is the first time they been separated since I bought it new. Oh well
