1./ Yes,but you need to temporarily remove the inner cover and replace it after you undo a 3/8" bolt and a 3/8" nut.You'll probably already have top gear engaged,but any gear is OK.Mark the quadrant and the case,so you can fit it back the same.Hold the layshaft into the box,so the thrust washer doesn't drop off the inner end.When you put the cover back,tighten 2 screws lightly to hold it there until you need to remove it again for re-assembly.
2./ Remove the mainshaft nut and drive the shaft toward the primary side.The splined outer part of the ratchet will fall off.The other parts should then slide off the shaft.
3./ It gives you trouble,remove it like you would a small-end bush.Get a long 7/16" bolt,and a bush that fits the bolt but has a smaller O.D. than the dowel.If you can push the dowel 1/2 way through the cases,that should be enough.
