i have recently put the trans back together. when the cover was off everything seemed fine. the camplate was difficult to move. Now the cover is on it will only go into 2nd and neutral.

what have i done wrong? did i line up the quadrant wrong?

No, just rotate the sprocket while shifting and it should go through all gear positions normally.

If not, then you DID do something wrong! Just that if the shafts do not rotate, the gears cannot mesh if they happened to be in the static position tooth-to-tooth with each other.

I agree with GPZ. I just rebuilt my gearbox. I only got second and neutral, until I started rotating the sprocket, and then it shifted fine. Suffice it to say that even though your not running it, make sure you have gear oil in the box. Hank
