First of all thanks for the help in getting my cases split. Especially KADUTZ. The clutch hub puller you recommended worked like a charm! Now that I have it all apart, I'm wondering what I should buy to make the bike more reliable. Electrical, aftermarket oil pumps, etc. I think my 66 has aluminum rods. Is this stock? They have E4002 on one side and R4R on the other. Thanks again for all the help.

You will find that those OEM aluminum rods have steel caps.

Sparx electronics make a total retrofit setup, high output alternator, solid state rectifier, regulator and ignition with matched coils and plug-and=play wiring harness.

e-mail me off forum if you want a quote.

A newer spec oil pump would not be a bad idea.

Morgo oil pumps are good. Go to MAP CYCLE for many modern upgrades. I have purchased and run the mikuni set up, boyer electronic ignition, oil filter kit and solid state recifier and regulator.

the best thing i did on my bike to improve it was to put mikuni carb instead of the wearprone amals..oh i know what some guys around will shout but:
first the vm mikunis are older than concentrics so they are "period"
second ...they are much better makes and you wont pass your time to try to get a good clean carburationnce set up they are forgotten..i spent ten years trying with amal...when new they are correct but it doesnt last ( have a look at the slides after 100 miles from new..they are scored like a 100 thousand miles mikuni slide...so try to have a decent tickover with an old amal (smile!)
third...when you ride your bike you can see the carbs and at meetings most people dont notice them..
