Just got this beauty about a week ago and have not had a bike for many years, so please make allowances for what may seem really dumb questions from this Pilgrim. I have a Haynes book but no owners manual so I'm missing some really basic information.
1. Am I correct in assuming that the red light on the headlight is the oil pressure warning light?
2. Can an actual gauge also be installed? Where can one be obtained?
Many Thanks,
GulfCoastDave

Check the Oil Pressure thread in this column. It should cover your needs. Wish I could tell you and Oki where to find a gauge, though. Also, read the thread on Hoses in this column.

Good Luck: Jim

Check out the car breakers or the car custom shops. The pipe (hose) is easy to find.

I thought the Red light was for "ignition on", but that may be older models only.

No question is to dumb

(all references are to 2Cly models)

Warning lights

1 Red This is ign on light and oil pressure light
When the ign is turned on this will light up. When the engine is started it will go out. If it doesn't you have a problem.

2 Green This is your high beam light will only light up when high beam is in use.

3 Orange/Amber This is your turn signal indicator light used on 1971 and later models. Lights with indicators

4 Blue This is you neutral indicator light used on 1979 and later models Lights when trans is placed in neutral.

Oil pressure switch
There were two oil pressure switches used

1 Part no 60-2133(D2133) used up thru 1973 and used a
1/8 NPT for the thread

2 Part no 60-3719 used 1974 on my listing on this only says BSP for the thread.

Any oil pressure gauge can be used. I mounted mine from a home made bracket off gas tank strap bolt (right side) on my 78 T140V. The nylon line came in the package along with fittings and same threaded in to the timing cover (also use Teflon tape) gauge assy was purchased at Kmart or someplace like that. Not sure if you want to use a gauge for testing or mount one for" keeps"

also you might want to go to www.triumphbracket.com for ideas on mounting

Sorry to dissagree with you Kadutz but Triumph never used a NPT thread, it was BSP and parrallel. That is why there is ALWAYS a flat sealing washer listed. If you use NPT it will split the case out as it is tapered.
Roy.

I could easily be wrong on the tread pitch on the early switch. I don't have one here to check. All my reference material lists says 1/8 NPT(or tapered) on the early switch and
BSP on the later switch.
As with everything if in doubt check check and triple check
and do not force anything
Have a nice day!
