You know I've been pondering the same question. I like the T 100. It has about 10 more horsepower. Then I think I have one already thats been paid for 23 years with 10,000 mile on it. I don't trust the old bikes for long distances, although it's been dependable. So I'll keep pondering. :???:

Keep your old one.. and go ahead and get a new one... You've both got more than your money's worth out of your original bonnies.. Why not pony up for a new one as a stable mate..??

I go with your idea, tbs rider. You guys need to go along to your local dealers and get a test ride. You won't be dissapointed, believe me.
The only down side will be that all you will need to do is clean it, gas it up and RIDE IT.
Do you think you could live with that?????

rosco,

Getting rid of your real classic would be a mistake as it's a time capsule, just like old cars, that allow you to enjoy what these bikes were. A lot of people wish they were you when they see you on the road!

However, Triumph is making some awesome new bikes that are very in keeping with the heritage. They still have the "soul" and are unlike any HD or Jap bike. They're "rider" bikes in every sense. The huge advantage is being able just to hop on the bike and ride as far as you want without a care. Very reliable! I outta know! LOL! The only thing that hurts after a 500 mile ride are your cheeks from terminal grinning!

Go test ride some and see for yourself.

Cogito ergo equito

I have to say keep the oldie and get a new Speed Triple. I've had a new 2004 Bonny but when I bought a Speed Triple I never rode the 04 Bonny again and sold it.

I have to agree with TBAbob. Don't part with your vintage machine (unless you'd care to donate it to the new "Triumph museum" I've just this moment created), but definitely try out one of the new ones! The new ones are heavier, but they do have the additional horsepower to compensate. The only thing that will disappoint you about them is the lack of the pushrod sound.

And while I don't quite agree with Mad that a Speed Triple makes the Bonnie expendable, you might want to take a ride on one of those too. Apart from the riding position, they give so much of the same intuitive handling feel that thrilled me about the old Bonnevilles, combined with an absolutely ludicrous amount of power. Bwa-hahahaha! (Sorry, got carried away for a second.)

Point being, most everything you like about the old Triumphs is very much available in various ones of the new models, minus the perpetual maintenance and worries on long trips.

Come, join us in the 21st century. The bikes are great. :-)

But don't give up the old one either if you can hold onto it.
