Been thinking ahead about possibly visiting my bro this summer in central Colorado (near Dillon - 8000 ft).
My 750 bonnie has stock jets in the carb, I bet. Also a Boyer ignition too.
Anyone taken a Bonnie from near sea level to the Rockies? What advice can you offer?

Don't take this to the bank, but you might get by with needle adjustment and leaning the air screw out. Denver is as high as I've been in Colorado and I'm about 2500 ft. here. 8000 ft. is pretty high, thats probably why you haven't got much feed back yet. Hang in, someone's probably been their and done that. '78's and 79's idled rich and ran lean from the factory I believe.

I've been up there a few times from my normal 5200 ft. here in Denver. Your bike will be fine- if it runs good where you are it will just have a slight loss of power up at altitude but that's it. If you were to actually live up there a re-jet probably would be advisable. But I haven't done anything down here in Denver and can earn a speeding ticket with the best of them. One note, watch out for sand in the curves, it seems to stick well after the spring snows depart and will give you a quick thrill if you come across it while cruising around a picturesque state road. Enjoy! Beats driving around flatlands.

Hey Geebee, Love your slogan. I'm with you on that. Must have been on one of those roads to the casino. Love Denver, live there if I could afford it. My two daughters live there. The roads got alot of bends in them. East thru Kansas stinks. I always come home Ruidoso, NM. I ride around up the alot with my Son-in-law.
